My PhD thesis approaches the films of Andrei Tarkovsky non-intentionally, against the many reductive interpretations that have been produced by an uncritical acceptance of Tarkovsky's own programmatic writing. I conceptualise the many resonances between his films and the work of others as reflections, double exposures and "hauntings". The thesis is currently being prepared for submission.

Other research interests include Russian and Eastern European cinema and animation, the films of the Moldovan/Armenian director Artur Aristakisian, the absurd aesthetics of Ken Russell's films, documentary aesthetics, cinematic theories of intertextuality and classical and contemporary film theory.

My book reviews and shorter articles have been published in Film-Philosophy, The Journal of British Film and TV, Film International, Senses of Cinema and APEngine. I have also been involved with the London Russian film festival and I am currently interning at LUX.
